Lokoja, Aug. 23, 2025

The Headquarters 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, on Saturday announced the commencement of its Second Annual Range Classification Exercise from August 25-28, 2025. at the Chari Maigumeri shooting range in Lokoja.

Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director 12 Brigade Army Public Relations, announced this on Saturday in Lokoja, on behalf of the Commander 12 Brigade and Force Commander Operation Accord III, Brig. -Gen. Kasim Sidi,

According to Abdullahi, the exercise aims to sharpen the shooting skills of officers and soldiers, as well as ascertain the serviceability of weapons.

He urged the public, particularly residents of Shettima, Zango, and its environs, not to panic on hearing gunshots and seeing heavy movement of troops and equipment during the exercise.

He advised the locals to stay away from the range area throughout the exercise.

“The Range Classification Exercise is an essential part of the Nigerian Army’s training program, designed to ensure that officers and soldiers maintain a high level of proficiency in their shooting skills.

“The exercise will also help to identify any issues with the serviceability of weapons, enabling the army to take corrective action,” he said.

Abdullahi urged the media to help sensitised the public about the exercise through various mediums, including translation into local languages.

This, he said would ensure that the communities surrounding the range area are aware of the exercise and take necessary precautions.

“Locals are advised to stay away from the range area throughout the exercise.

“The Commander 12 Brigade and Force Commander Operation Accord III, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi appreciates the usual cooperation of the public and requested that it continues during the exercise,” Abdullahi said.
