Lokoja, March 21, 2025
The Kogi State Government, has restated its commitment to the full implementation of Gender Equality in Education Policy for the growth and development of education in the state.

The state’s Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, FCIB, gave the assurance in Lokoja, while monitoring the progress of the ongoing technical session for drafting the document for Domestication of Gender in Education Policy.

Jones reaffimed Gov. Ahmed Ododo’s commitment to implementing policies that create an all-inclusive and equitable learning environment in the state.

The commissioner also emphasized that the state government would do everything possible to implement the policy for the economic growth and development of the state.

He commended the participants for taking part in the assignment, and urged them to come up with a workable document for implementation in the state.

“I sincerely commend you on behalf of His Excellency, Gov. Ahmed Ododo, for taking part in this assignment. I urge you to come up with a workable document that would ensure seamless implementation of the policy in the state.

“Posterity will never forget you as you undertake this important task,” he said.

Earlier, the State Coordinator for drafting the Gender in Education Policy, Dr. Elizabeth Animoku Ahman, assured the commissioner that at the end of the exercise, Kogi would have a document that addresses all gender issues in education.

She noted that Kogi is one of the few States in Nigeria domesticating the policy.

The workshop, which was organized by the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project, began on March 18 to end on March 22.

It aims to domesticate the National Gender Equality in Education Policy and its implementation in Kogi.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Jibrin Saidu Alhaji, commended the governor and the commissioner for prioritising quality education in the state, and urged the participants to develop a workable document for the state.
