Youths in Kogi State have been encouraged to work diligently and seize every opportunity that comes their way to shape their futures.

Governor Usman Ododo made this call during a Youth Interactive Session held in Lokoja, commemorating this year’s Democracy Day on June 12. The event, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, was themed “Twenty-Six Years of Democracy: Renewing Our Commitment to National Development.”

Represented by Suleiman Abdulrazak, the Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Governor Ododo emphasized that achieving national development is a collective responsibility that extends beyond the government to every citizen.

The Governor highlighted the importance of the mining sector in Kogi State, urging young people to explore opportunities within this industry to enhance their prospects for the future.

Honorable Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to youth empowerment, innovation, job creation, and inclusive governance, ensuring that Nigerian youths are not left behind in the nation’s progress.

Commissioner Anyebe noted that under Governor Ododo’s leadership, this vision has been localized through strategic engagement and empowerment programs aimed at fostering continuity and consolidation.

He further stated that the Governor has consistently demonstrated a commitment to uplifting young people through skills acquisition programs, youth inclusion in governance, sports development, and enterprise support initiatives.

Additionally, Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, represented at the event by Ademu Seidu Haruna, Director of Information Services, urged the youth to actively participate in all democratic processes to ensure the continued flourishing of democracy in the country.

The keynote speaker at the event, Dr. Olayemi Michael S., also contributed valuable insights on the role of youth in shaping the future of Nigeria.

This gathering served as a vital platform for inspiring the youth of Kogi State to take charge of their destinies and contribute
