The Ladi Memorial Foundation (LMF) Chateko Vocational Institute, has urged eligible contestants to register for the third edition of the National Sewing Championship 2025 (NSC25).

In a statement on Tuesday in Lokoja, the LMF Executive Director, Mrs Rosemary Osikoya, said the NSC25 seeks to empower Nigerian youths through creativity, promoting the country’s talent in fashion, textiles, and innovation.

She added that the programme aimed to encourage artisans to participate and become Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) peer advocates; focusing on providing practical skills and training for specific occupations or industries.

Osikoya noted that the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, officially inaugurated the third NSC25 edition in Abuja on Feb. 27.

She said that the competition is open to young people aged 12–22 with sewing skills, regardless of their educational qualifications or background.

Osikoya said registration would end on July 15, 2025, and called for mass participation across the country to foster youth development and skill recognition in the sewing industry.

She revealed that state-level competitions would hold on July 22 while regional contests and DIY workshops are set for Aug. 7 and 9, in each geo-political zone.

The final event and Up-skilling Boot Camp will take place from Aug. 17 to 30 in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

She appealed for collaboration from stakeholders to drive positive change, community growth, and economic innovation through technical skills.

She urged eligible contestants to visit: www.lmf.org.ng and LMF Facebook page, to download the enrollment form, or pick up the form at State Ministry of Education offices or SUBEB nationwide including FCT.

The LMF National Sewing Championship is an annual event aims to equip Nigerian youths with practical sewing skills, enhancing their employability and potential for entrepreneurship.

By targeting youths aged 12 to 22, the championship empowers them to become financially independent through vocational training in fashion and textiles.

The championship showcases Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage through traditional textile designs, embroidery, and beadwork.

The Federal Government’s partnership with the Ladi Memorial Foundation (LMF) and UNESCO demonstrates the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting skill development and youth empowerment.

This support enables the championship to reach a wider audience and create a sustainable impact.

Overall, the LMF National Sewing Championship serves as a platform for Nigerian youths to develop their skills, showcase their talents, and contribute to the country’s economic growth and cultural preservation.
