The Sheriff Oborevwori Under 17 Unity Cup is set to kick off on August 3, 2025, in Delta Central, bringing together talented young footballers from the eight local government areas that make up the Delta Central senatorial district.

The tournament, sponsored by Chief Amurun Idama Esq, Chairman of Arthur Ferdinand Ltd, aims to promote unity, sportsmanship, and football development in the district.

The inauguration and draws for the competition were held on July 13, 2025, at the Kariot Hotel and Suites, where the Local Organising Committee (LOC) members were inaugurated.

The LOC consists of 15 major committee members and 16 sub-committee members, led by Chairman Mr. Edema Fuludu Mon, a former Nigeria international.

The tournament will feature a round-robin format among the eight local government areas, with the winner smiling home with a grand prize of ₦5 million, a giant gold trophy, and golden medals.

Other prizes include:

– Appearance fee of ₦1 million for each participating local government area

– ₦3 million for the runner-up, ₦2 million for third place, and ₦1 million for fourth place

– Consolatory prizes for the highest goal scorer, best goalkeeper, best player, most valuable team, and best coach

The tournament is scheduled to take place every weekend at different designated venues across the Delta Central Senatorial District.

The first match will feature Ethiope East vs Ughelli North on August 3, 2025, at the Ekpan Police Station football field.

The Sheriff Oborevwori Under 17 Unity Cup promises to be an exciting and competitive tournament, showcasing the talents of young footballers in Delta Central.

With its emphasis on unity, sportsmanship, and development, the tournament is expected to bring joy and pride to the people of the Delta Central Senatorial District in particular and the state in general.
