The National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) has celebrated the success of its Students’ Security & Communication Orientation Summit, describing it as a historic stride in safeguarding student welfare and strengthening youth engagement in governance.

The summit convened critical stakeholders—including government officials, security agencies, and student leaders—to address the growing need for security awareness, strategic communication, and responsible citizenship among students across Kogi State.

In his official address, NAKOSS National President, Comr. Adeola Simon, expressed profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, whose fatherly support and commitment to youth empowerment made the event possible. He further recognized the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd.), for his unwavering dedication to statewide security coordination.

Security agencies were heavily represented, with active participation from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), led by Commandant Aletan Olumide Ebenezer, and the Nigeria Police Force, represented by SP Dominic Iyorshe, Command Sports Officer. Their intervention was commended as “deeply impactful,” promoting a shared approach to securing Kogi students.

Comr. Simon also extended special appreciation to top government personalities for their institutional support, including:

Hon. Monday Anyebe – Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development

Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo – Commissioner for Information

Engr. Farouk MD Yahya – Commissioner for Water Resources

Mrs. Acharu Okpanachi – Commissioner for Women Affairs

Hon. Charity Ijese – Special Adviser on Youth and Women Mobilization

He further acknowledged the special contribution of Hon. Yakubu Adabenege Siyaka, Auditor General of Kogi State, praising his active involvement and steadfast commitment to the success of the programme. Comr. Simon noted that Hon. Siyaka’s continued support for youth advancement and student development stands as a testament to his dedication to the future of Kogi’s young people.

He emphasized that their collective commitment to student development underscored the administration’s dedication to fostering a safer academic environment.

The summit also featured the presentation of Excellence and Stewardship Awards to deserving honorees, especially security heads and public officials championing student welfare.

In a major highlight, NAKOSS inducted key dignitaries into the esteemed Kogi Students Hall of Fame, confirming them as Patrons and Patronesses of the national student body:

Deputy Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly – Patroness

Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo – Patron

Engr. Farouk MD Yahya – Patron

Mrs. Acharu Okpanachi – Patroness

These honors, Simon noted, reflect the deepening collaboration between student leadership and public institutions in championing safety, dialogue, and education.

“With partnerships like these,” Comr. Adeola Simon affirmed, “we are building a safer, stronger, and more informed future for Kogi students.”

The summit stands as a milestone achievement, setting a new benchmark for student-led advocacy, security awareness, and intergovernmental collaboration in Kogi State.
