The Kogi State Chairman, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), has condemned in it strongest terms, recent attempt to defame the character of the Kogi State Accountant General Dr Mrs Habibat Tijjani.
ANAN in a statement signed by the Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Tijani Oricha, issued to Newsmen in Lokoja, described the State Accountant General, a fellow of ANAN, as a dutiful professional, with impeccable character who has brought her analytical and thinking skills for problem-solving to bear, lauded her for her strong attention to details, a feat that has made many to become envious and scared knowing that managing the finances of the State under Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo is no longer business as usual.
“ANAN wished to therefore use this medium to commend the State Accountant General as one who pays great attention to details, and ensures due diligence in the discharge of her responsibilities, While it is ok for detractors to be intimidated by her rising profile, no amount of blackmail will deter her from doing what is right”.
He added that the unverifiable and sponsored online reports by mischief makers targeted at maligning the hard earned reputation of the State quintessential Accountant General is a figment of the imagination of law breakers wanting to continue in the old order.
ANAN described the series of misleading narratives being circulated on social media regarding the arrest and ongoing prosecution of one Abdulhamid Deflowerboy, who authored and published a clearly unsubstantiated defamatory post against the Government of Kogi State as unfortunate.
” For the avoidance of doubt, due legal process was followed in reporting the case of defamation to the relevant law enforcement agency and Abdulhamid, upon invitation confessed to being the author of the defamatory publication against the State, he was thereafter charged to court and remanded by a court of competent jurisdiction. The claim that he was detained by the State Accountant General without trial is false, baseless, and intended to mislead the public. Rather than assist him to fulfil his bail conditions, his sponsors abandoned him to his fate.
“Cyber bullying is against the law, I believe this will serve as lesson to others who are misguided into thinking that they can use the opportunity provided by the social media to perpetrate evil”
ANAN concluded by passing a vote of confidence on the Kogi State Accountant General, describing her as a worthy Ambassador of the Association.
