APC Chieftain Cautions Governor Ododo: Party Structures, Not Palaces, Win Elections

Abuja, November 3, 2025: A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Julius Arokoyo, the Obamudi of Oweland, has cautioned Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State against relying solely on traditional palaces to deliver votes in future elections.

In a statement, Chief Arokoyo expressed delight over Governor Ododo’s recent visit to Kabba, describing it as timely and heartwarming. He, however, raised concern about the growing notion that traditional palaces alone can guarantee electoral success.

“Our royal fathers are custodians of peace and culture, but political mobilization rightly belongs to structured party organs where loyalty, participation, and accountability truly reside,” Chief Arokoyo stated.
“When parties are strong and inclusive, voters are inspired by conviction. But when political processes are diverted from party structures, enthusiasm fades, discipline weakens, and parallel arrangements emerge, breeding division, resentment, and poor performance at the polls.”

Chief Arokoyo observed that the strong showing of Kabba/Bunu in the last governorship election was largely driven by the goodwill generated through the establishment of the Kogi State University, which renewed the people’s hope and confidence in the administration. He emphasized that such conviction-driven support, not compulsion, should continue to guide political engagement.

“His Excellency should therefore be cautious of narratives that sideline genuine party members. Let the party organize, let the palace advise, and let the people decide. That balance is the strength of democracy and the sure path to continued victory and lasting unity,” Chief Arokoyo advised.

The statement underscores the need for Governor Ododo to strengthen party structures and empower loyal members as the foundation for sustainable political success in Kogi State.
