BE THE CHANGE IN THE SOCIETY – 35 YEARS IN SERVICE, DONE AND DUSTED

The send forth get together symbolises giving honour to whom it is due. The outgoing Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works *Engineer Emmanuel Audu* at the Kogi State Ministry of works featured many dignitaries.

At the occasion, the Commissioner for works Hon. Engr Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Permanent Secretary Engr Audu, said that it was a very peaceful experience while working with Engr Audu, because he is a very transparent, dedicated, passionate officer that is committed to his job. He added that he is also a role model to the younger generation.

In his words he said “As an engineer we are problem solvers in the society, we offer solutions when need arises we are passionate in whatever we do and Engr Audu personified that during his years of service” .

Hon. Engr. Mohammed advised Civil Servants to be accountable, transparent and passionate in discharging their duties and they should remember that the society needs a positive change in their attitudes for a better Kogi State and to a large extent Nigeria as a whole so that peace and tranquillity will prevail.

Also speaking at the occasion was the Chief Whip of the Kogi State house of assembly, member Representing Adavi Local Government *Hon. Asema Baba Haruna,* said that Engr Audu will be greatly missed in the Ministry, and he is very talented in the field. He encouraged the younger engineers to emulate him, by working harder in order to improve themselves in their careers.

Hon. Haruna appreciated the governor of Kogi State, Alh. Usman Ododo inhis commitment to improve the welfare of Civil Servants in the state, as well as the laudable projects he has embarked upon within the state, with infrastructures being put in place across the state. These he said was a welcome development for the state, thereby making Kogi to stand tall in the community of States.

Earlier while delivering the welcome address, the director of Civil Engineering in the ministry *Engr. Sunday Baba* , said that the out going PS Engr. Audu is an inspiration to all engineers in the ministry especially in the civil engineering department saying that his expertise will be greatly missed, because he is a good Civil Servant to the core.
Engr. Baba added that retirement is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of a new chapter, wishing him all the best in his future endeavors and hoping that they will call on him anytime his expertise is needed .

In their good will messages some of the Directors in the Ministry and other well wishers eulogized the outgoing Permanent Secretary Engr Audu saying that he is a mentor, a leader, an innovator, loyal, trustworthy and a generous person who always has a smile and kind words for everyone; and above all he is a role model saying that they are truly grateful for his service and his friendship.
Adding that Engr. Audu has been an integral part of their success and growth thanking him for improving the Ministry, through his wisdom, creativity and passion and also sharing his knowledge and experience with them and inspired them to work harder, to learn new things and be opened to challenges in order to achieve greater heights. They also said he enriched their lives in so many ways.
They also advised him to continue to pursue his interests, hobbies and desires with the same enthusiasm and energy that he had always exhibited, that even though he has retired but he is not tired and they wished him well in his future endeavors. They congratulated him on his well-deserved retirement.

The outgoing Permanent Secretary Engr. Emmanuel Audu in his response expressed his happiness over the great show of love and outpouring of encomiums, by everyone, saying that he never know that he has touched so many lives and he thank God for using him to put smiles on faces of many.
Saying that this show of affection will not go unnoticed, advising the engineers to enhance thier self-realization and capacity because it will help them to grow better in their careers . He implored them to continue positively in discharging their duties for the betterment of the Ministry and Kogi State at large.
