A strong message against drug abuse resonated across Kabba on Saturday as women leaders, university staff, and youth advocates joined forces in a solidarity walk organized by the First Lady of Kogi State, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo.

The awareness campaign, aimed at addressing the growing concern of substance abuse among youth, received notable backing from the Women Network of Kogi State University (KOSU), Kabba.

The university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. K.I.T. Eniola fNSM, led the university’s delegation, commending the initiative as timely and essential. “This campaign comes at a critical time, and we must all unite to protect our youth from the dangers of drug abuse,” he said.

In a rousing address delivered in the local Owe dialect, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Zacchaeus Dare Michael, warned against the destructive consequences of drug use, calling on young people to choose a better path.

Chairperson of the KOSU Women Network, Dr. Grace Rotimi, also lauded the First Lady’s commitment to youth development. She expressed appreciation to the Vice Chancellor for mobilizing university support and voiced optimism that the campaign would spark long-term positive change in the community.
