The National APC Youth Coalition (NAYC) has hailed Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, as an “impactful legislator and loyal defender of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”

Speaking at a National Press Conference in Lokoja themed “From Mandate to Impact: Legislative Excellence of Kogi West Senator,” the group described Senator Karimi as “the platinum standard of senatorial performance” whose tenure in the 10th National Assembly embodies commitment, delivery, and loyalty.

A Model of Progressive Representation

In his address, Chief Aiyelabowo Adebanji Austin, Director-General of the NAYC, said Senator Karimi’s record demonstrates how true representation can transform communities when anchored on loyalty to party ideals and service to the people.

“Senator Karimi has proven that leadership anchored on loyalty to President Tinubu and the APC’s Renewed Hope vision can translate into real impact for citizens,” Chief Aiyelabowo said. “His record in the Senate and his touch on grassroots development stand him out as one of Nigeria’s most people-driven lawmakers.”

The Coalition noted that Karimi’s vocal defence of President Tinubu’s policies and his mobilization of youth groups across the country have strengthened national unity and deepened faith in the APC government’s reform agenda.

Transforming Kogi West Through People-Focused Projects

Within two years in office, Senator Karimi has facilitated over ₦2 billion in developmental projects across the seven local government areas of Kogi West — including Yagba West, Yagba East, Mopa-Muro, Kabba-Bunu, Ijumu, Lokoja, and Kogi Local Government.

His interventions cover rural electrification, classroom construction, water projects, healthcare centers, and road rehabilitation, reflecting what NAYC described as “data-driven, verifiable development.”

“The difference is visible,” the NAYC said. “Senator Karimi’s projects speak louder than politics — they improve lives and restore trust in governance.”

Legislative Achievements in the 10th Senate

As Chairman, Senate Committee on Services, Senator Karimi has sponsored and co-sponsored over 50 bills and 40 motions in the 10th Senate, making him one of the chamber’s most active members.

Notable among his sponsored bills is the Dishonoured Cheques (Offences) Bill, 2023 (SB 10), aimed at promoting transparency and financial integrity.
He also co-sponsored the National Youth Service Corps Trust Fund Bill, which seeks to empower Nigerian graduates through skills acquisition and entrepreneurship — aligning with the federal government’s employment drive under President Tinubu.

“Senator Karimi’s legislative work is not abstract,” the Coalition emphasized. “It directly impacts the economy, education, and security, translating the Renewed Hope Agenda into measurable national gains.”

Youth and Women Empowerment

Highlighting Karimi’s empowerment drive, the NAYC noted that the Senator has disbursed over ₦100 million in bursaries and skills funding, benefitting more than 3,000 students nationwide, including 1,390 from Kogi West.

He has also supported 550 women across 50 cooperative groups, providing each group ₦2 million in seed funding and entrepreneurship training. An additional ₦18 million was distributed to women cooperatives in Lokoja alone, with reports indicating a 35% rise in household income within six months.

“Senator Karimi’s empowerment strategy is not a handout,” Chief Aiyelabowo noted. “It’s a blueprint for inclusive growth — one that creates self-reliant families and job-ready youth.”

Securing Kogi West and Strengthening Governance

On security, Senator Karimi has invested over ₦500 million in building a Forward Operating Base (FOB) at Egbe, the border between Kogi, Kwara, and Niger States — a move that has reportedly reduced kidnapping and cross-border banditry by over 30%.

His collaboration with federal agencies and personal funding of security logistics, the NAYC said, demonstrate his understanding that “no development can thrive without peace.”

“Senator Karimi’s proactive approach to security complements President Tinubu’s strategy for community stabilization and national defense,” the Coalition added.

Championing Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda

Throughout the session, the NAYC reiterated that Senator Karimi’s unflinching loyalty to President Tinubu and his commitment to the APC’s Renewed Hope Agenda make him a unifying force between policy and the grassroots.

“In Senator Karimi, we see the reflection of the President’s vision — bold, inclusive, and transformative,” the statement read. “He has carried the Renewed Hope message from Abuja to the smallest ward in Kogi West.”

Chief Aiyelabowo described Karimi as “a trusted bridge between the national government and the people”, urging continued support for his leadership beyond the current term.

A Call for Continuity

The NAYC concluded by urging constituents to sustain their support for Senator Karimi, describing his representation as “a model of stability, accountability, and excellence.”

“From mandate to impact, Senator Sunday Karimi has redefined representation,” the NAYC declared. “He is loyal to the President, faithful to the people, and committed to progress. Kogi West and, indeed, Nigeria need such leadership to keep the flame of Renewed Hope alive.”
