Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has called on the Adaba family to extend hands of fellowship, uphold unity, and peace as exemplified by the former deputy Governor.

Governor Ododo made the call while attending the burial mass of the former Deputy Governor at the Christ the King Catholic Church in Okene on Friday.

Governor Ododo described the late Chief Patrick Adaba, the pioneer Deputy Governor of Kogi State, as a founding pillar whose leadership, sacrifice, and dedication shaped the early years and formation of the state.

In his tribute, Governor Ododo emphasized Chief Adaba’s significant role in establishing the state’s administrative and political foundation.

“Pa Late Patrick Adaba is among those that laid the foundation of our dear state, and that foundation was laid for greatness. Today, we have witnessed that greatness and we thank God for his life”, he said.

He noted that Chief Adaba’s contributions began even before the return to democracy in 1999, serving as Secretary to the State Government and later as Deputy Governor under Prince Abubakar Audu, Kogi’s first elected Governor.

“Chief Patrick Adaba was a steady hand during Kogi’s formative years, offering wisdom and calm judgment during challenging times, his legacy of integrity and public service remains deeply etched in our state’s history. Even in retirement, he continued to be a unifying figure and a moral compass for many.”

The Governor also described the departed statesman as a man who carried himself diligently through public service and a role model to many in the state.

Governor Ododo extended heartfelt condolence to the Adaba family, the Ebira community, and the entire Kogi state, praying for eternal rest for the departed statesman and strength for his family through difficult period.
