The Kogi State Ministry of Education, has engaged with stakeholders on full implementation of the revised National Education Quality Assurance Policy (NEQAP) towards enhancing quality education in the state.

The state Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Janes, who declared the workshop open on Wednesday in Lokoja, said the policy would improve the overall quality of education by setting standards and supervising their implementation.

“The issue of quality assurance is something we must take very seriously as a state, and Kogi is ready for the full implementation of the NEQAP in the state.

“Let’s have an honest and open discussion about the challenges we’ll face in the policy implementation, so we can address them effectively,” he said.

Jones stressed the need for effective collaboration between the State Ministry of Education, and the Federal Education Quality Assurance Service to ensure seamless and successful implementation of the policy.

The Director Evaluator, Federal Education Quality Assurance Service (FEQAS) Department, Kogi State Office, Dr Ezekiel Ajayi, said the policy would guide relevant education stakeholders towards the realisation of the vision of an education system that is world class qualitative and functional.

He noted that the revised NEQAP was a document and a testament to improve the quality of education in the country in line with President Bala Tinubi’s Renew Hope Agenda.

“It addresses various stages of Education Quality Assurances monitoring, supervision, evaluation of schools, capacity development of leaders and teachers to improve their professional skills and competence.

“Every well meaning government in power should be concerned with the improvement of education quality because it is the bedrock of State/National development.

“The significance of this engagement meeting is to ensure strict adherence to National education standard.

“If we diligently fallow the revised NEQAP the overall standard of education in the country will significantly improve,” Ajayi said.

In their separate comments, the Ministry’s Ag. Permanent Secretary, Mrs Omolayo Onozare; and Director, Education Quality Assurance Service, Mrs Ruth Opaluwa, said the initiative underscored the ministry’s commitment to enhancing quality education and standards in the state.

“This workshop will serve as a platform to device strategies and best practices to addressing the policy implementation challenges in the state,” Onozare said.

Stakeholders at the workshop include: School Proprietors, SUBEB, NECO, NGOs, ANCOPSS, ASUSS, among others.
