The Kogi State Head of Civil Service, Dr. Elijah Evinemi, FCA, has charged civil servants in the state to embrace continuous learning in order to remain relevant in their chosen careers.
He noted that adding value to themselves was necessary as they are expected to make themselves relevant in their various Ministries, Departments and Agencies towards contributing meaningfully to the ongoing transformative development under the leadership of the Chief Servant of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Dr. Evinemi gave the charge on Saturday, 12th June 2025, at a reception in honour of Dr. Atuluku Samuel Andrew on the successful completion of his Doctorate Degree, PhD in mass communication.
The Head of Service, in his words, “My presence here today is the confirmation that the door is opened to everyone to further their education. The idea is much welcome. According to Nelson Mandela, ‘Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.’ Samuel’s life is a living testament to this truth. His achievement reminds us all that no dream is too distant and no starting point is too modest. The ladder of success is not reserved for the privilege few, but for them that keep climbing. Remember, your life is your message to the world. Make sure it’s inspiring. Dr Atuluku has done precisely that through humility, faith, and perseverance.”
The Head of Service commended Dr. Atuluku for his relentless efforts, ensuring that he climbed the ladder of success regardless of all the odds of life.
He stressed that his life and legacy have come to symbolise determination, discipline, and divine favour.
The Head of Service reiterated Dr. Atuluku’s unwavering commitment and dedication to his roles, responsibility, and duties in the civil service, starting from his first appointment, to the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation up to his current position as Director News and Publications with the state Ministry of Information and Communications.
“Let us raise our glasses not just for an academic achievement, but a life lived with integrity, lifted by faith and guided by a relentless pursuit of excellence. I want you all to know that these kinds of achievements are highly welcome even under this present administration. You have added value to yourself, and there is no doubt about the fact that you equally add value to the system. Therefore, you will be equally recognised by the government at the appropriate time. On this note, I want to encourage others, don’t just remain where you are, continue to add value to yourselves.” Dr. Evinemi emphasized.
Dr. Atuluku Samuel Andrew, in his speech, expressed gratitude to God almighty for the gift of life, grace to persevere, and attaining the significant milestone.
He explained that whoever wants to be great in life should not give excuses, noting that poverty, marriage, or family background are not barriers, noting that excuses limit people.
“No risk, no reward. No test, no testimony. Life is all about struggle, and struggle is life. Planning is therefore key. No one succeeds by chance. Behind every successful person is a deliberate plan, except God himself intervenes differently. I am proud to say I’m gradually attaining what I called the 3Es of life, which are Education, Exposure, and Experience. ” Dr. Atuluku stressed.
In an interview with Dr. Arome Salifu, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Africa Youth Growth Foundation, AYGF, described Dr. Atuluku as an easygoing person who fears God and values family life. He said Dr. Atuluku is someone who takes his academic, professional carrier and business serious as it has been demonstrated by obtaining a PhD, urging others to emulate his passion, perseverance, and hunger for success and replicate in their own lives as he has learnt a lot from him.
Others in their goodwill messages, including former national officer of NUJ, Mr Tims Ejiga, Mr Bartholomew Ademu and Chairman of NUJ, Alhaji Ademu Seidu commended Dr Atuluku Samuel for attaining the feat despite challenges and advised him to use his new position to advance the course of humanity.
Management and staff of Kogi State Ministry of Information and Communications, Radio Kogi Staff, journalists, as well as friends and associates attended the event.
