Kogi Sports Commissioner Commends NUJ, assures of full participation at the forth coming National Sports Festival

The Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Monday Anyebe, has praised the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, for its commitment in promoting sports development through adequate reportage.

Hon. Monday Anyebe gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the State Council of NUJ at the Press Centre.

He commended the union for amplifying the ministry’s programmes and positively promoting government’s new innovations, noting that the Media remains a dependable ally in the quest to making positive changes in the society.

“I have come the NUJ Press Centre today to familiarize with the Chairman and other members of the team, this is very important because the Media is key if the society must move forward. I have had interactions with the Chairman before now and I still see the need to intensity partnership with the NUJ”, the Commissioner stated.

The commissioner also lauded Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for prioritizing youth development, noting that over 85% of his appointments are youth-centered, stressing that the Governor has written his name in gold in the youth and sports development sector.

He expressed appreciation for the media’s support and praised the Ministry’s Information Officer, Mr. James Sani, an NUJ member, for effectively disseminating information.

The commissioner highlighted on the upcoming National Sports Festival, coming up at Abeokuta, Ogun State, saying Kogi State is gearing up to make a strong impression. He revealed that the state has been working tirelessly to prepare its athletes, and he is confident that they will excel in the competition.

The commissioner urged Kogi State indegenes to rally behind the team and show their support.

Hon. Anyebe explained that the state government has put in place necessary infrastructure and training facilities to ensure that the athletes are well-prepared for the festival, expressing optimism that the event would not only showcase Kogi State’s sporting prowess, but also promote unity and healthy competition among the various states participating in the festival.

In his response, the Kogi State Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Alhaji Ademu Seidu Haruna expressed joy on the visit and thanked the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development for recognizing the union’s efforts in promoting the ministry’s activities.

Comrade Seidu noted that the commissioner’s passion was rare and appreciated his kind words. He assured the commissioner of the union’s continued support and cooperation in future activities, noting that his openness and love for feedback was appreciated and that such would yield positive results.

Comrade Ibrahim Obansa, Vice Chairman of the NUJ, described the union as friendly and responsive, assuring the commissioner of their commitment to working together to achieve the Ministry’s objectives.
