Kogi State Government has described LugardTV as a strategic platform playing a vital role in government information dissemination and public engagement.
The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State (SGS), Dr. (Mrs.) Folashade Ayoade Arike, made this known during the flag-off of the television station’s month-long anniversary celebration.
The anniversary commenced on Friday with a community outreach and a novelty football match between Team Ododo and Team Kogi All Stars at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja, which ended in a 7-3 victory for team Ododo
Ododo commended the management and staff of LugardTV for their professionalism, innovation, and commitment to developmental journalism.
He noted that in just one year of operation, the station has demonstrated capacity and effectiveness in amplifying government programmes promoting transparency, and serving as a credible bridge between the government and the people.
“LugardTV has quickly positioned itself as a vital asset in Kogi State’s media space. We recognize the role it plays in shaping narratives, spotlighting progress, and driving public enlightenment. This government values that effort and encourages you to keep up the good work,” he said.
The Governor also applauded the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Mr. Ismaila Isah, for his leadership, describes him as a committed professional who has positioned the broadcast outfit as a platform for credible public communication in the state.
“LugardTV has become the voice of the government. It continues to showcase our programmes and achievements with clarity and consistency. I encourage the team to sustain the momentum,” he added
In his response, the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Mr. Ismaila Isah, explained that the novelty football match was inspired by the Governor’s passion for sports.
He noted that the game was included in the anniversary programme to promote unity and team spirit among members of the Government House Media Team.
“His Excellency is a lover of football. We felt it was important to add a novelty match between Team Ododo and Team Kogi All Stars to spice up the anniversary. We have worked hard this past year, and this is a good time to unwind,” he said.
Hon. Isah added that LugardTV remains committed to growth in professionalism, innovation, and coverage capacity in line with the administration’s vision to ensure effective communication of government policies and programmes.
He also expressed appreciation to dignitaries who attended the event and participated in the novelty football match for their support.
Meanwhile, players at the novelty football match wore black armbands in honour of Alhaji Yusuf Okala, father of the State Auditor-General, and the late husband of the Commissioner for Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation, Hajia Rabietu Okute, both of whom passed away recently.
The anniversary celebration of LugardTV will continue over the coming weeks with activities designed to promote civic engagement, media innovation and public enlightenment.
