The long-overdue payments were confirmed on Monday, triggering scenes of joy and celebration at the Kogi State Secretariat in Lokoja. Civil servants, some visibly emotional, described the development as a turning point and a reaffirmation of purposeful governance.
“This is not just about the money; it’s about dignity, respect, and trust in leadership,” said Mrs. Amina Ibrahim, a Principal Administrative Officer. “After 13 years of broken promises, this alert in my bank account means everything.”
The payment follows Governor Ododo’s Workers’ Day address on May 1st, where he committed to settling the outstanding bonuses as part of his administration’s renewed focus on workers’ welfare. True to his word, the funds were disbursed, earning the Governor accolades from across the public sector.
