The International President of the Standup for Women Society, Barr. Deborah .A. Ijadele-Adetona on behalf of all members worldwide sympathizes with the families of victims of the attack by gunmen in Yelewata community of Benue State.

“As a women’s society, we grieved the death of our sons, daughters, husbands, brothers, and sisters, who were maliciously killed by gunmen, We hereby call on the president, Bola Tinubu to empower relevant security agencies to go after the perpetrators and serve justice according to Nigeria’s law. Let the wicked face the full wrath of the law without delay” SWS International President stated.

In a statement made public by the national PRO, Lib. Billie Nwogu, the International President, wants the federal and state governments to go beyond the killing to get to the root of the cause of the fight in order to avert and stop future occurrences.

“The killing is too many to be mentioned, we cannot continue to be silent why the injustice continues to reign. Let the government stand for the innocent souls killed in the name of a reprisal attack. We should learn to forgive one another in the name of God because God is the ultimate who measures judgment according to their deeds” Let peace take over’. Barr. Deborah said.

She called on the people of Benue not to distance themselves from prayer to God for peace of the land and also raise alarm when they discover strange people in their neighbourhood.

Barr. Deborah charges members of the SWS Benue and Kebbi States Chapters to remain steadfast in their advocacy for peace in the land.

She also comforts the families of nearly 200 people reportedly killed by bandits in Tadurga Ward, located in the Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The attackers, said to be more than 50 in number, struck late Monday night while residents were at home..

Former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, confirmed the tragic event through a statement released by his media aide, Mohammed Bello Doka, describing the massacre as both “grievous and barbaric.”

May the souls of the departed get justice and rest in peace.
